Oreo Blue
has been busy, but not too busy to return to Ardmore for a night of
hip-shakin' blues.
The foursome will play at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Two Frogs Grill
for what will most likely be a packed house, if their past
performances are any indication. And that's just fine with the band.
"First of all we are excited to be returning to Ardmore, as it
has been months since we last performed here," sax player Brian
Crowne said. "We have enjoyed much success in the city and
appreciate our fans."
Oreo Blue -- consisting of Crowne on sax, guitarist Gary Lee
Hutchison, bassist Rod Dean Williamson and percussionist Stephen M.
Boudreaux recently performed three shows at the legendary King
Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Ark., in October.
"We were honored to perform the media party on the Friday night
and then two more shows on Saturday afternoon," Crowne said. "The
response was tremendous and it should open the doors for Oreo to
travel to several other large blues festivals next year. "
After Ardmore, the band is on its way to Eureka Springs and
Fayetteville, Ark., before an exciting New Year's Eve bash at The
Bypass in Joplin, Mo., where Oreo Blue will record its newest
compact disc live. Oreo Blue members have been busy writing new
songs for the new live CD and Crowne is ready for the show. This is
the second live recording done by Oreo Blue, the first being "Live
By Demand" in 1996.
"We're excited to be recording another live CD," Crowne said.
"Our fans love the live show, so we thought what better than another
live CD? Everyone that attends the show will have their names
included in the liner notes of the CD as co-producers because we
feel they will be a big part of the energy we capture on tape. We
will be recording the new CD with the help of Tom Ware and Fat
Rabbit Studios."
If anyone from the southern Oklahoma area feels the urge to
travel for their New Year celebration, reservations to the Joplin
show can be made by calling The Bypass at (417) 664-9095. Otherwise,
show up early Saturday night at Two Frogs to get a good seat. Crowne
said T-shirts and compact discs will be for sale at the show.
